THE TURLAXIN' 2026

These rules apply to all divisions unless a division-specific rule states otherwise.

Game Clock

• All games will use a running clock.

• The clock will not stop for timeouts.

• A central tournament clock will be used as the official game clock.

• The tournament will operate the central clock, and it will be the official time for all games.

• There will be no overtime. Games will end when the scheduled game time expires.

• Wins and losses will determine the division winner.

• If necessary to determine a division winner or resolve a tie in the standings, goal differential may be used as a tiebreaker.
   

Player Shortage / Borrowing Players

If a team is short players for a game, the opposing coach may agree to either:

• Allow the team to play with a reduced number of players; or

• Allow the short-handed team to borrow available players from the opposing team.

• Both coaches must agree on the decision before or during the game. Borrowed players should be used to help maintain a competitive and safe game environment.

Sportsmanship

• Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship.

• Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players and team sideline.

• Officials have final authority during the game on safety, penalties, and rule enforcement.

• Any player who demonstrates dangerous or unsportsmanlike conduct may be removed from the game at the discretion of the officials.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

Field

• Games will be played on a shortened field appropriate for the age group.

Goalie

• If one team does not have a goalie, both teams will play with a hector on the goal.

• Neither team must provide a traditional goalie if the opposing team does not have one.

Players

• Teams should use age-appropriate small-sided play.

• If a team is short players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or to borrow available players from the opposing team.

Game Play

• Emphasize player development, passing, ball control, spacing, and sportsmanship.

• Coaches and officials should prioritize player safety and development over the score.

 

3rd – 4th Grade

Field

• Games will be played on a shortened field appropriate for the age group.

Goalie

• If one team does not have a goalie, both teams will play with a hector on the goal.

Players

• Teams should use age-appropriate small-sided play.

• If a team is short on players, the opposing coach may agree to let the team play with fewer players or borrow available players from the opposing team.

Game Play

• Encourage players to pass, move without the ball, maintain spacing, and develop individual skills.

• Officials should emphasize safety and appropriate contact for the age group.

 

5th – 6th Grade

Field

• Games will be played on a regulation-size or tournament-designated field appropriate for the division.

Players

• Teams will play the tournament-designated number of players on the field.

• If a team is short players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or to borrow available players from the opposing team.

Goalie

• Teams should provide a designated goalie.

• If a team cannot field a goalie, the opposing coach and tournament officials may determine an appropriate modification to allow the game to proceed safely.

Game Play

• Standard boys’ lacrosse rules will apply except where modified by these tournament rules.

• Officials will enforce appropriate body contact and checking rules for the age group.

• Officials will have final authority regarding illegal or dangerous contact.

7th – 8th Grade

Field

• Games will be played on a regulation-size field.

Players

• Teams will play the tournament-designated number of players on the field.

• If a team is short players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or to borrow available players from the opposing team.

Goalie

• Each team should provide a designated goalie.

Game Play

• Standard boys’ lacrosse rules will apply except where specifically modified by the tournament.

• We will enforce age-appropriate body contact and checking rules.

• Illegal, excessive, or dangerous contact will result in penalties and may result in player removal.

 

High School Boys

Field

• Games will be played on a regulation-size field.

Players

• Teams will play the tournament-designated number of players on the field.

• If a team is short on players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or borrow players from the opposing team, if available.

Goalie

• Each team must provide a designated goalie unless the tournament director and opposing coach approve an alternative arrangement.

Game Play

• Standard high school boys’ lacrosse rules apply, except where the tournament specifically modifies them.

• All applicable rules regarding penalties, offsides, body contact, checking, substitutions, and equipment will be enforced.

• Officials have final authority over rule interpretation and player safety.

 

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

Field

• Games will be played on a shortened field appropriate for the age group.

Goalie

• If one team does not have a goalie, both teams will play with a hector on the goal.

Players

• Teams should use age-appropriate small-sided play.

• If a team is short on players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or to borrow available players from the opposing team.

Game Play

• Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals, passing, catching, ball control, movement, spacing, and sportsmanship.

• Officials should prioritize player safety and development.

 

3rd – 4th Grade

Players

• Teams should use age-appropriate small-sided play.

• If a team is short players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or to borrow available players from the opposing team.

• Players will be encouraged to pass, move without the ball, maintain spacing, and develop individual skills.

• Officials will enforce age-appropriate safety and contact rules.

 

5th – 6th Grade

• Teams will play the tournament-designated number of players on the field.

• If a team is short players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or to borrow available players from the opposing team.

• Enforce age-appropriate checking, stick contact, and defensive play according to the applicable rules.

 

7th – 8th Grade

• If a team is short players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or to borrow available players from the opposing team.

Goalie

• Each team should provide a designated goalie.

• Standard girls’ lacrosse rules will apply except where specifically modified by the tournament.

• Officials will enforce the applicable rules regarding checking, contact, shooting space, fouls, cards, substitutions, and player safety.

 

High School Girls

• Games will be played on a regulation-size field.

Players

• Teams will play the tournament-designated number of players on the field.

• If a team is short on players, the opposing coach may agree to allow the team to play with fewer players or borrow players from the opposing team, if available.

Goalie

• Each team must provide a designated goalie unless the tournament director and opposing coach approve an alternative arrangement.

Game Play

• Standard high school girls’ lacrosse rules will apply, except where the tournament specifically modifies them.

• Applicable high school rules regarding fouls, cards, checking, shooting space, substitutions, and player safety will be enforced.

• Officials have final authority over rule interpretation and player safety.

 

TOURNAMENT AUTHORITY

The tournament director and officials reserve the right to modify game procedures when necessary because of weather, field conditions, safety concerns, scheduling issues, or other circumstances affecting the tournament.

The applicable rules for the age division and gender of play will govern any rule not specifically addressed in these tournament rules.
